Killarney National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve renowned for its stunning landscapes. We’re located  on the Muckross Road, at the start of the Kerry Way, and with walk and cycle paths that lead directly into the National Park and Killarney Lakes.

Whether you’re an avid hiker, a casual walker, or a family looking to explore the great outdoors, Killarney’s diverse trails offer something special for everyone in the heart of nature. From tranquil forest walks to challenging mountain hikes, immerse yourself in the magic of Ireland’s natural heritage.

The National Park’s trails cater to all ages, offering leisurely walks, exploration of ancient woodlands, and the thrill of ascending Torc Mountain for more experienced hikers. Witness the vibrant wildlife and serene waters of the Lakes of Killarney as you create unforgettable memories.

Take this versatile trail that’s suitable for walking and cycling. While 15 km long, and taking 3-4 hours, you can always enjoy a ride in a traditional Killarney jaunting car if you need a rest! Passing key attractions like Muckross House and Gardens, Muckross Abbey, Dinis Cottage and Torc Waterfall, this walk remains a firm favourite with our guests. You’ll experience not only stunning lake views and peaceful woodland paths, but it’s also where you’re most likely to spot Ireland’s only wild herd of red deer.

Discover the Blue Pool on a gentle 3km looped walk. Experience the whispers of the trees and the murmurs of the waters, all within close proximity to Killarney. It’s well sign-posted and there’s a shorter trail for the visually impaired. Whether you want to enjoy a morning jog or take a picnic while being enchanted by the Blue Pool itself, this trail is a hidden gem waiting to be explored.

Starting at Ross Castle, take in the scenic lake and castle views. It’s also possible to take a boat ride from the castle and get a tour of Innisfallen Island. A day’s adventure awaits.

This 15 km trail is perfect for walking and cycling, taking you past Muckross House and Gardens, Muckross Abbey, Dinis Cottage, and Torc Waterfall. Spot Ireland’s only wild herd of red deer as you enjoy stunning lake views and peaceful woodland paths. Join a guided tour that departs from the reception in our park for an expert-led journey through the Gap. You can combine walking or cycling with a boat tour over the Killarney Lakes.

While more challenging, the hike to Torc Mountain’s summit offers panoramic views of Killarney’s lakes and peaks. Well-marked paths make it accessible to walkers with some off-road experience.

We’re located at the start of the Kerry Way, so the Old Kenmare Road hike is ever-popular for our visitors. It’s a one-way hike so a little planning is involved, but the rewards are worth it. For lovers of nature, this trail will take you through woodland, over hills and across Killarney’s uplands while you experience serene peace and quiet.
